How to get an International Standard Book Number (ISBNs)

The ISBN is an international unique number that identifies one book from another. This service is offered by the library section. Every book that is published must have an ISBN.

PROCEDURE

When the book is ready for printing, it is the responsibility of the publisher to ensure that the book has an ISBN number. In Zimbabwe this unique number, is issued at the National Archives of Zimbabwe. You can visit National Archives of Zimbabwe Provincial Centres for the processing of ISBN. For your convenience, you can download the form here  and fill in the required details before visiting us.

The forms are completed in triplicate.

 

If you are come without pre-completed forms remember to bring the following details about the book.

  • Author
  • Title
  • Binding type
  • Edition
  • Name of publisher
  • Address of the publisher

CHARGES

It costs only US $2 per title. Payment is made at our Accounts office. The fee is however subject to change.
